Designing with Heart: My Artistic Vision for Every Floral Creation

As a floral designer, I believe that each bouquet or arrangement should be more than just a decorative piece—it should be an experience. Creating art with flowers is a meditative process for me, one where the world around me fades away and all that's left is the beauty in front of me. My hands move with purpose, guided by my love for the flowers and my desire to tell a story through color, texture, and design.

The Beauty of Working Outdoors

One of the things that makes my design process unique is my strong connection to nature. I find so much of my inspiration outdoors, whether I'm walking through my garden, going on foraging walks around my property, or simply observing the changing landscape. There's always something new to discover—whether it's an interesting texture, a stunning color, or a seasonal bloom that catches my eye. Being outdoors is where my creativity thrives, and it's where I feel most at peace.

From Art to Florals: A Lifetime of Inspiration

My journey into floral design began with a lifelong passion for the visual arts. I grew up surrounded by creativity, especially from my grandfather, an art professor whose love for color and texture deeply influenced my artistic perspective. His approach to color, especially how he used it to create movement and depth, still shapes the way I approach floral design today.

After working in a small-town flower shop, I launched my own floral business in 2020, offering bespoke wedding and event designs. Over time, I expanded to growing my own cut flowers, which has allowed me to offer a truly personalized touch to each arrangement.

Color and Texture: The Heart of My Designs

Color is the foundation of my designs. The relationship between colors—the way one shade can bring out the richness of another—is something I pay close attention to. When putting together a floral palette, I often gravitate toward harmonious color combinations like apricot and lavender, mustard and plum, or chartreuse and ochre. These pairings create a balance that feels natural, yet intriguing.

Texture is just as important to me as color. I believe that every flower, every leaf, and every stem has its own unique texture that can add layers to the design. Whether it's the soft petals of a peony, the ruffled edges of a rose, or the delicate fronds of a fern, I want each design to feel like a tactile experience—something you not only look at but also want to touch.

Seasonal Inspirations: Working with Nature's Rhythms

I’m a firm believer that the seasons shape my floral designs in the most beautiful ways. Spring brings lush, delicate blooms, while summer fills the garden with vibrant zinnias and lisianthus. Fall is a particularly special time for me, with its deep, rich hues of dahlias, cosmos, and unique foliage. The autumn landscape, with its colors of burnt oranges and the soft green of saplings clinging to their leaves, never fails to inspire me.

Each season offers its own palette, its own textures, and its own story. And as a designer, I get to help translate that story into something beautiful for my clients.

Designing for the Space: Creating Harmony in Every Venue

Every venue has its own personality, and I believe that a floral design should complement, not compete with, its surroundings. The setting plays a huge role in how I approach each project. For example, I vividly remember my first large-scale wedding in a huge, stark-white venue with towering ceilings. Without a site visit, I would have never suggested adding arbors draped in vines to break up the vast space. The result? A design that transformed the venue, giving guests visual points of interest and creating a truly memorable experience.

Eco-Friendly Design: Sustainability Meets Creativity

As an eco-conscious designer, I’m committed to minimizing my environmental impact. This is why I’ve sworn off floral foam and have dedicated myself to finding sustainable alternatives for hydrating stems and building mechanics for arrangements. Being mindful of our planet is a value I take seriously, and I’m always exploring new, creative ways to make my designs not only beautiful but also environmentally friendly.

Let's Create Something Beautiful Together

If you're looking for a floral design that reflects your unique style and celebrates the beauty of nature, I’d love to work with you. Whether you’re planning a wedding, hosting an event, or simply want to bring some seasonal beauty into your home, I believe every design should be a reflection of you and the story you want to tell.
