Once we receive the flowers, each stem is treated with the utmost care. We receive flowers about a week in advance, allowing them time to rest and fully hydrate before they’re arranged. Each stem is processed by hand, removing any unwanted leaves or thorns to keep the arrangement looking clean and polished. After processing, flowers are stored in a cooler set to 40 degrees and allowed to rest for a full day, ensuring they’re hydrated and ready to shine in their designs.
Special Care for Unique Blooms
Some blooms require a little extra TLC to keep them at their best. For example, each stem is trimmed at a sharp angle instead of straight across, which maximizes the surface area for hydrating. Woody stems are split up the middle, allowing even more hydration to ensure they hold up during both design and transit. For delicate flowers like ranunculus, we use specialty small buckets that support airflow, keeping them upright and helping their blooms open just right. Hydrangeas receive a refreshing dunk in cold water to hydrate their petals, keeping them perky and ready to be the centerpiece of any design.
